General Summary:

We are looking for a Staff Chipset and Software Program Manager to lead the next generation of IOT SoC’s, Software, and solutions.  IOT chipsets and software are used in a variety of new use cases in the Industrial, Retail, Robotics, Energy, and a multitude of other segments.

As the Staff Chipset PM, you will be working with engineering, business, and operations teams to establish the plan of record for the chipset, software, and hardware development platforms. This role will also require you to work with key engineering and business leads inside and outside of the IOT business unit to establish the product end to end plan from requirements through broad market launch with direct and indirect customers.    

As a team leader in the group, you will be working on abstract problems in variable situations that typically require complex analysis.

An understanding of industrial use cases and requirements is preferred.

This is an office-based position located in San Diego, CA.

  • The responsibilities of this role include:
  •     Working independently with no supervision 
  •     Plan of record
    o    Establish plan of record (POR) for the Chipset and SW program from initial business case through final chipset commercialization, working with the SoC, SW, package, Fab process, PTE or Product Test Engineering, Product Marketing and Finance leads. 
    o    Responsible to ensure the chipset meets the financial objectives of the business unit. 
  •     Execution 
    o    Own all the HW program management aspects: SoC development activities, HW reference platforms, Post Tapeout activities, bring up, SoC validation and chipset commercialization.
    o    Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop program goals, set the prioritization of deliverables, ensure appropriate business processes are followed (e.g., program change management, communication) and drive decisions necessary for on time delivery. 
    o    Managing risk is a key component of the responsibility: continuous risk assessment, identifying risks and identifying a mitigation plan that does not impact schedule or cost over runs.
    o    Chair the cross functional core team meetings, set program priorities, establish engineering and program reviews. 
    o    Manages and takes responsibility for the chipset program by applying up-to-date and innovative program management best practices.
    o    Fully owns all key program metrics, including updating them as needed based on technical, roadmap and organizational needs; influences the priorities of teams as necessary, and applies appropriate leadership style to overcome both technical and organizational challenges.
  •     Communication and Influencing
    o    Influence key program level decisions which require strong negotiation and influence. 
    o    Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels.
    o    Provide transparent status on a regular cadence to the IOT BU execs.
    o    Promote program vision and objectives within the team and management, gaining buy-in from stakeholders. Ensure program objectives are met or exceeded.
    o    Promote adoption of processes by applying best practices and identifying and executing process improvement initiatives across the core team and PMO.

This also includes the ability to get things done with fewer resources and in less time, work on multiple tasks at once without losing track, and foresee and plan around obstacles.
  •     Mentoring and Coaching - The ability to develop, coach, and mentor associates. This includes the ability to provide development experiences and network opportunities, advise, and teach to prepare associates for effective job performance.
  •     Program Management - Knowledge of program management methodology (e.g., planning, scheduling, tracking, execution). This includes the ability to effectively use program management tools to carry out the program management function.
  •     Risk Management - The ability to identify (e.g., impact analysis) and mitigate risks that impact programs. This includes prioritizing and tracking risks.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of Program Management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •     Masters Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  •     Masters Degree in Business Administration
  •     PMP/PMI Certification.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$171,200.00 - $256,800.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
