The primary role of Design function within Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. Works closely with customers, staff, developers and other stakeholders to understand and define user needs in these designs. Initiatives are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Designers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements.

- The primary objective of Service Design specialization within Engineering(PD) Job Family is to design solutions that are informed by user & business needs, aspiring to creating the best experience/product.
- By conducting research, user behaviors, needs and preferences are investigated to drive solutions that are aligned with user goals.
- As well as user needs, the Service Design teams assess business needs, technology & design trends to help inform the best product design solution.
- The process followed is cyclical, design-test-iterate, to ensure the designed solutions are always meeting needs & achieving a high standard of design & innovation. Service design teams collaborate with other product development design/engineering teams, channel owners and other stakeholders across the business to deliver solutions to market, and also closely collaborate with product management teams to ensure the business strategic goals & user goals are met.
- Performs work in a specialized area of expertise that requires knowledge of fundamental themes, principles and concepts. Typically requires a university degree or equivalent work experience.
- Responsibilities might include:

- Occasionally leads the work of project teams and might formally train junior staff.

Required:
- Tertiary-level qualifications in an area such as Psychology, Human Centred Design, Analytics, Business Analysis, Research, Engineering, Anthropology
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.Subject to the absolute discretion of the company, this role is eligible for an annual cash bonus payment based on company, business unit, and/or individual performance. At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
