General Summary:

This role directs Mobile Business Unit product strategy for multimedia software. The Mobile BU at Qualcomm delivers the industry-leading Snapdragon platform that powers the world's best smartphones. The candidate would function as the Mobile BU representative for the software platform across Camera, Display, GPU, Video, Audio, and the Low-Power Island. They would promote the use of new technologies and be in tune with industry-leading trends and competitive threats. The candidate would direct those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of Snapdragon product lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Product Management or engineering development experience in the smartphone ecosystem, particularly with Android.
  • Solid understanding of multimedia technologies including Display, Graphics, Camera, Video, Audio, and the Low-Power Island.
  • Exposure to working and implementing multimedia solutions is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on knowledge of one or more of the following: drivers, compilers, low-level firmware, middleware, and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of consumer, commercial, enterprise software products, APIs, use cases, user experience, performance/power consumption, etc.
  • Ability to drive system-level analysis of multimedia technologies and understand associated tradeoffs on performance, quality, and power.
  • Direct experience with OEMs, OS vendors, ISVs, open-source community, and product sustenance.
  • Exposure to Apple's iOS and experience with Android is strongly preferred. An understanding of the worldwide OEM smartphone ecosystem is strongly desired.
  • The candidate should be execution-oriented with a track record of making on-time deliverables to customers with aggressive schedules.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion to evangelize and drive messages across the groups they interface with.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the software strategy for the multimedia components listed.
  • Represent the BU viewpoint and needs at Feature Review Boards and generally with Technical Product Management and Engineering.
  • Participate in OEM visits and communications and be an effective resource in Sales activity.
  • Be a technical resource to the broader team in the areas covered, and in knowing what the software roadmaps are for these areas.
  • Help drive Key Messages across various tech “siloes” and ensure that teams are working well together towards the key areas of investment for Mobile.
  • Assist the Chipset Product Management team with silicon decisions, with an emphasis on software and ability to deliver key features.
  • Evangelize Key Messages and other software strategy directions broadly across Tech Product Management, Program Management, and Engineering.
  • Contribute to decisions on OEM Feature Requests and be ready to be the voice of Mobile in evaluating customer feature requests.

  • Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.
  • Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.
  • Using deductive and inductive problem solving. Multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem. Often information is missing or conflicting. Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
  • Develops, redesigns strategies and processes and provides overall direction for various functional areas and/or entire organization. Has influence over the formulation and achievement of long-term business plans and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
• 8+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$196,000.00 - $294,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
