Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Operations Principal Software Engineer - Operations to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role is located in San Diego, California.

In this role you will support all aspects of the of the software engineering lifecycle, with particular focus on software operations . You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Real-time & Embedded Software, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Act as moderator on VMS software reviews.
  • Support JIRA tickets and Bitbucket pull requests
  • Perform software media releases. Executes builds and releases per program schedules to ensure reproducible software configuration baselines. Prepare code packages for releasing physical disks.
  • Conduct SharePoint pre-team center peer reviews with IPTs and customers.
  • Update/verify documents are using up to date templates/ data rights / export control markings to ensure Program and Customer requirements are met.
  • Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks for VMS Software (such as IMMC/VTC/CLS Software), including preparing, authoring, submitting, guiding the VMS Change Notice though the Teamcenter Enterprise Document Release Lifecycle.
  • Generate weekly VMS Software Review Board agenda and document minutes. Produce software metric collection/reports based on VMS Software Review Board data.
  • Facilitate VMS Software Rework meetings.
  • Able to support VMS audit software processes and procedures and provide training to the team. Participate as the focal point of contact to prepare for and support SQA/Sector audits.
  • Update software trainings and make contributes to software process improvement.
  • Track and manage software licenses, including managing licenses for lab assets, SITS, HB, dev stations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; or a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of experience; or PHD with 1yr of experience
  • Knowledge of software configuration, data and change management principles and proficiency in the use of configuration management tools.
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel.
  • Experience following documented rules and guidelines to ensure technical content meets internal and customer requirements.
  • This position is required to work on-site minimum one day a week and as needed.
  • Must have United States Citizenship
  • Must have active DoD Interim Secret clearance or higher
  • Must be able to travel at least 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with and comprehensive understanding of software development, including current SCM industry standards and practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
  • Previous experience in an Aerospace or DoD environment.
  • Experience with developing macros and scripts to assist with automating tasks and gathering data for CDRLs.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira, Crucible)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
