DESCRIPTION

The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Athletics Fiscal Specialist. Collaborate with the Head Coach to guide and mentor scholar-athletes in competitive collegiate fencing. Assist in developing training programs, organizing practices, and providing technical instruction to enhance athletes' skills and performance. Foster a positive team environment, motivate athletes, and contribute to their overall growth both on and off the strip. Key element of the job is to provide private lessons on a weekly basis, specific to the assigned weapon, to each scholar athlete.

The incumbent must follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 years Coaching experience or 7 years of High-Performance competitive training for Epee.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others in pursuing departmental objectives, including various student groups and campus organizations.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, flexibility and ability to communicate ideas effectively. Ability to foster an environment that supports equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Preferred experience in College fencing.
  • Preferred experience in international fencing at FIE level

  • This position is a mandated reporter of known or suspected child abuse or neglect, according to the California law, Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). This position is a campus security authority (CSA) for the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, which is a federal law requiring disclosure of information about crimes on and around campus. Work schedule will be arranged with Head Coach, but often includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be CPR/AED - First Aid Certified.
