Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineering Manager to be an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead supporting the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program. The Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible to support the Network Operations, Sustainment, and Support (N-OSSM) Operating Unit (OU), within the Networked Solutions (NS) Business Unit. This position will be located at Spectrum Center in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of cross-discipline professionals who design, integrate, operate, and sustain secure, military communications networks
- Act as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program
- Support Earned Value Management (EVM) guidelines across a portfolio of contracts and support staff
- Ensure process adherence and improvement across a portfolio of programs
- Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to develop innovative solutions to resolve challenging problems
- Prepare for and conduct presentations and demonstrations to customers, program leadership, and other stakeholders
- Mentor, train, and develop junior professionals
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with 7 years of experience; OR 5 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; OR 3 years of experience with a PhD
- Clearance: Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance (or higher)
- Ability to communicate well, including proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and/or Control Account Manager (CAM)
- Experience leading technical teams of cross-disciplinary professionals
- Ability to travel 10% of your time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic degree(s) in a STEM field
- 7 or more years of Defense experience, including one (or more) of the following areas: integrated logistics support (ILS), property management and accountability, sustainment support, equipment repairs and maintenance, equipment installations and/or operations, system integration, system test, and program training
- Experience with Risk and Opportunity Management
- Demonstrated responsibility for ensuring that the project delivers to government expectations on time and to budget; managing project work as defined by the government
- Previous experience as a functional manager with direct reports
- Experience with defense contracting proposals, to include creating estimates for labor/material in response to government Request for Proposal (RFP)
Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
