Position Summary

The RPG Developer I plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company’s Information Technology functions. The role is primarily responsible, under general supervision, for assisting in the development and maintenance of applications on our IBMi. The RPG Developer I collaborates with Business Analysts to understand requested enhancements, and subsequently add/modify existing logic and database changes to achieve requested improvements to our systems.

Essential Functions

  • After completing our training program, under the supervision of senior-level teammates, help develop and maintain current in-house software applications for existing systems using a variety of technical platforms and languages including Websmart (HTML,Javascript,jQuery,Bootstrap,CSS), RPG Free and CLLE on an IBM System i platform.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, and/or senior-level teammates to develop complete specifications that capture impact of changes on all applications, systems, and databases.
  • Apply knowledge of data centric architecture, design, programming, and performance to help update programs and resolve problems.
  • Understand good database design and be able to create/modify database objects using DB2 native and SQL tools.
  • Apply knowledge and help manage projects using project management, and change management software tools.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business with a focus on quality and customer service.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate positively with team members, peers, customers, and vendors.
  • Provide time tracking and project feedback data to the Project Management Office and management.
  • Help the department and company grow by looking for opportunities for constant improvement, always over-delivering and exceeding expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical certification or degree in a related field either completed or in progress.
  • General understanding of programming languages.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies and techniques.
  • Experience with Software development, analysis, design, and construction including application of modern modular software concepts and patterns.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks.
  • Ethical, with a commitment to company values and focus on teamwork.
  • Career focused, driving for opportunities and growth within MIS.

Supervision

  • General supervision required, depending on experience
  • Low independent judgment and discretion used in decision-making; escalates issues of high complexity for advice and resolution

Requirements

  • Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio, e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
  • Environmental: Office environment – no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Targeted Salary Range: $27/hr - $37/hr

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
