The Office of Information Assurance (OIA), a department within ITS, is responsible for the infrastructure, policies, standards and training necessary to ensure the achievement of the security and privacy goals of the University. Collaborating closely with various campus resources and partners, the department identifies, responds to and mitigates information security/privacy risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
OIA delivers a comprehensive set of enterprise security services in the areas of security policy, assessment, compliance, consulting, operations, incident response and risk management. The department is responsible for the design, deployment and administration of network, endpoint, application, and information asset protection systems. Information Security staff also work closely with the IT Infrastructure and Operations department to provide the campus-wide network/security infrastructure.
The Regulated Research Cybersecurity Team Lead joins a small team dedicated to the growing requirements surrounding regulated research. This will include leading a number of compliance activities related to Controlled Unclassified Information. You will lead in the development of the University’s research cybersecurity program. Liaise with the campus research community related to heightened security requirements and help bring them into compliance with external and UC policy. This position requires expert knowledge of security engineering and the ability to design compensating controls and to act as trusted counsel to staff and faulty on most domains of security.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in a complex changing environment.
- Plans, develops and implements new programs required to implement new requirements.
- Maintains existing collaborations with researchers, and develops new collaborations with researchers, faculty, and staff.
- Support the development and implementation of effective and reasonable policies and practices to secure critical and sensitive data and ensure information security and compliance.
- Serve as work lead for the CMMC team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a closely-related field AND three (3) years of related experience in information security in an enterprise environment and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment.
- Expert familiarity with IT security regulations such CMMC, FERPA, HIPAA, and/or PCI.
- Demonstrated knowledge of secure hardware, software and network design techniques.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Federal security clearance.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
