Component Sourcing Specialist at Qualcomm will be responsible for developing and implementing supplier strategies that support a variety of products across the engineering group. This person will collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization to manage component suppliers’ performance. The role involves evaluating markets and technologies, leveraging competition, and negotiating supplier agreements to ensure top-notch engineering support, optimal lead times, supply reliability, and competitive advantages for Qualcomm. The Sourcing Specialist will oversee all business aspects related to the suppliers, including strategy, pricing, relationship management, and contractual performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
OR
Associate's degree and 2+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supplier Management: Identify, assess, and build relationships with key suppliers to ensure a robust and competitive supply chain.
- Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, lead time and quality
- Cost Management: Implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies to optimize the overall procurement process and achieve cost reduction targets.
- Risk Management: Evaluate and mitigate supply chain risks by creating contingency plans and ensuring suppliers adhere to quality standards (including proposing alternative parts or suppliers).
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, program management, and planning team to align sourcing strategies with project timelines and technical requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvement plans as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in sourcing or supply chain management, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
- Proven ability to manage and develop supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a penchant for teamwork.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Level of Responsibility:
- Works under close supervision.
- Responsible for own work. Decision-making is limited. Impact of decisions is readily apparent. Errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).
- Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. Role may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
- Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
- Some creativity may be required to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.
- Deductive problem solving is required to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.
- The responsibilities of this role do not include:
- Does not provide supervision to others.
- Does not have financial accountability.
- Has no influence over key organizational decisions.
- Does not have a role in strategic planning.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$72,000.00 - $108,000.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
