As a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence RN at Scripps Health, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive, evidence based WOC program. You’ll have the opportunity to shape patient outcomes by providing expert care, education, and consultation, while empowering healthcare professionals across the system.
Key Responsibilities:
· Program Development & Leadership:
- Spearhead the creation and ongoing enhancement of a system-wide program that ensures best practices in skin, wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Ensure the program reflects the latest in evidence-based care, driving clinical excellence and positive patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish protocols and practices that optimize care delivery across all care settings.
· Clinical Consultation & Direct Patient Care:
- Serve as a clinical consultant, providing expert guidance to nursing staff, physicians, and the broader care team in managing complex wound, ostomy, and continence cases.
- Deliver direct patient care and personalized education to selected patients, supporting them through all phases of care and ensuring optimal recovery and quality of life.
- Focus on preventative care, early detection, and management of wound and skin integrity issues.
· Staff Development & Education:
- Lead educational initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals throughout Scripps, including nurses, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide ongoing mentorship, in-service training, and hands-on demonstrations in your areas of expertise.
- Develop and disseminate resources, such as care guidelines and educational materials, to promote consistent, high-quality care across the system.
· Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians, administrators, and patients, to ensure comprehensive, seamless care.
- Act as a key resource for all members of the interdisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and communication to resolve complex clinical issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for external customers, such as referring physicians and specialized healthcare providers, enhancing the continuum of care.
