POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for Business Intelligence (BI) and advanced analytics deliverables advancing the data maturity of the organization through the design, development and delivery of dashboards, customizations, integrations and visualization solutions. Contributes to data & engineering innovations in support of Jack in the Box Inc.’s vision and mission.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Designs, develops and implements components required for highly complex Business Intelligence application features. Standardizes BI quality assurance procedures.

• Develops, publishes, and schedules Business Intelligence reports and dashboards to communicate moderately complex concepts and data in actionable manner to enable decision support and key insights across the organization.

• Partners with internal IT teams and cross-functional teams to define key business questions, translate them into necessary requirements to document and develop visual data-driven solutions.

• Collaborates with external vendors and other in-house technical staff members & participates in new product reviews, tests, and pilots.

• Analyzes existing queries and reports, queries data to fix issues, extracts data, develops, and analyzes operational performance metrics and reports to ensure the quality and integrity of extracts though the use of validation and audit strategies.

• Performs exploratory data analysis, cleanses, reshapes, and aggregates data. Responds to business questions within defined SLAs after thorough analysis and research. Communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.

• Participates in Incident response work, helps resolve issues in real time. Debugs, troubleshoots and monitors issues and participates in the On Call support/rotation group.

• Performs code reviews to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and performance of code.

• Researches new systems development technology and participates in developing business cases to support enterprise-wide Business Intelligence and Visualization solutions.

• Leads governance and deployment of Power BI & Tableau, including administration, content distribution/sharing, training, and support.

• Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned, and directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years data engineering/developer experience in building and supporting data intensive applications, to include the following:

• Experience with Snowflake/AWS stack

• Experience with on-prem & relational platforms Oracle, SQL Server, PostGres , MySQL etc., and integration of cloud services with on premise technologies

• Experience with the configuration, design, development, and testing of the dashboards using SQL Server, Power BI, Amazon S3, Redshift, Tableau and QuickSight.

• Experience with PL/SQL scripting and Relational Database modeling.

• Experience in understanding the underlying data sources and interpreting requirements to analyze operational issues and develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data via reports and dashboards.

• Experience in developing complex queries against existing structures, necessary supporting data structures, and report layouts, and writing effective SQL queries and developing robust solutions that perform well even against large tables and datasets.

• Must have a general understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate the ability to follow and apply the use of programming and analysis concepts.

• Experience in monitoring system performance, troubleshooting and resolving highly complex system failures, and planning system changes necessary to respond to changes in the on-prem or cloud computing infrastructure.

• Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Java etc.)

• Possess a solid understanding of data management space (data structures/ design; system design; data management, data warehouse) & develops visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI and Tableau.

• Proficient in making DAX queries in Power BI with expertise in using advanced level calculations on the data set. Able to develop tabular and multidimensional models compatible with date lake/warehouse standards.

• Well versed in administration of both on-prem and cloud installation environments and can handle scaling of the environment as users and operationalized reports grow. Ability to plan and handle peak usage across both PowerBI and Tableau to ensure optimal performance.

• Comfortable working on advanced, highly complex problems in which analysis of situations/data regularly requires an evaluation of unidentifiable/intangible variables.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and applications (Excel, Teams, Outlook)

•Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.

The range for this position is $106,400 - $149,000 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
